PANORAIMA worksprint at BME, Budapest
Partners in the EU PANORAIMA consortium met at BME in Budapest for a two-day worksprint on the design of a pan-European responsible AI master's programme.
PANORAIMA is the EU project that grew out of HCAIM, the Human-Centred AI Master. Real AI Ltd is one of the fifteen consortium partners, and Tarry Singh is a co-developer of the programme and a visiting professor on it. On 26 and 27 June 2025 the consortium met face to face in Budapest. BME hosted. Two roll-ups stood beside the screen through both days, one for the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at gtk.bme.hu, one for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at VIK.BME.HU. A third carried the HCAIM programme and its partner marks: HU Utrecht, TU Dublin, Műegyetem 1782, Federico II, CNR, CeADAR, ESI, FIVEN, Nathean and Real Ai.
The schedule went up on screen and stayed there. WP3 goals and process across both days, WP7 goals and process across both days, a WP2 summary of results as input for WP3, then a WP3 road map covering tracks, pilots and stand-alone modules, a WP3 wiki tutorial, and WP7 proposal prioritisation and workplan. Tarry Singh sits on the WP3 road map line of that schedule, in a list that runs from Budapest to Naples to Utrecht to Dublin.
Mihály Héder of BME opened WP3 from the lectern. The slide behind him fixed the scope. WP3 designs all learning events, defines them, names them, specifies them, and leaves the materials to WP4. Four tracks, health, media, compliance and finance, plus one horizontal track for students of every track, with stand-alone paths, teach-the-teacher and accreditation included. One line was set in bold: the design should be ready in June 2026, and a first version much sooner so the pilots can start.
WP2 reported preliminary results under a title slide that named the meeting, with a partner joining by video from outside the room. WP7 followed, and its objective slide listed the communication work in full: websites, newsletters, podcasts, webinars, hackathons, mailing lists, social media, inter-faculty and international networking, community engagement, market engagement, scaling and sustainability. The funding line at the foot of the deck reads EU Project 101189934, Pan-European Network for Responsible Artificial Intelligence Multisector Masters' Programme.
Then the room stood up. Two tables filled with pink and green sticky notes, partners leaning over them in threes and fours, sorting the horizontal track and the four vertical tracks into something a curriculum could be built on. The brainstorming carried into the morning of 27 June, laptops open along the same rows of desks, before the consortium broke for the road.
