TEN DUTCH COMPANIES IN CAIRO

The Netherlands delegation to RiseUp Summit 2024

13–21 May 2024 · Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza, and Cairo, Egypt · LAB

Ten Dutch companies travelled to RiseUp Summit at the Grand Egyptian Museum in May 2024; Real AI took a stand, a panel seat, then a boardroom in New Cairo.

The flight out left the Netherlands on 13 May 2024. Three days later, in a Cairo hotel ballroom, the Dutch contingent sat through its briefing. The slide behind the speaker read: NL delegation to RiseUp Summit, 16-18 May, Cairo, Egypt. The next slide named everyone in the room. Factory AI, Forward Inc, LeafCloud, Miro, RealAI, SolaaS, TenTwenty, TAP Careers, Workwize, ZedZag.

The summit itself ran on the grounds of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. The Netherlands put up an orange pavilion on the concourse, lettered Solving Global Challenges Together, pointing visitors to Orange Corners and Invest in Holland. Real AI had a board on the DSC MENA stand a short walk away: Simplifying AI for Enterprises, a Powered by NL Netherlands plate on the wall beside it, and a partner strip running NVIDIA Inception, DSC MENA, Euclid and deepkapha.

Tarry Singh took a seat on a five-man panel about data, alongside Ahmed Tarek, chairman of Allianz, Mahmoud Hamouda, head of strategic initiatives at Banque Misr, and Amgad Nafie, head of integrated solutions and enterprise sales at Vodafone. The summit's own card billed him on the Capital Stage as CEO of DK AI Holding and Real AI Inc. The rows in front of the stage were full.

On 18 May the day moved back into central Cairo, to a wood-panelled auditorium and a pull-up banner reading AI & Blockchain Community Brunch, RiseUp Edition. Delegates in summit lanyards mixed with a local crowd of students and founders across raked black seating.

Three days after the summit closed, on 21 May, the work moved to a boardroom in New Cairo. Two sheets went up against the window glass. One was the Data Science Canvas, credited in its own footer to Tarry Singh and first drawn for DataHack 2018: decisions, ML task, value propositions, data sources, features, offline evaluation, live evaluation and monitoring. The other was a two-by-two, ease of implementation up the side and value of the opportunity along the bottom, with circles marked Quick Wins and BBFTB, big bets for the business. Participants covered it in sticky notes, drew their own input flows on the flip chart in Arabic and English, then presented back. The camera timestamps run from 12:59 to 19:35.
