DSC DACH Vienna: applied AI and data in industry

The German, Austrian and Swiss edition of the Data Science Conference ran for two days in a Vienna hotel, with sessions on LLM evaluation and AI in medical imaging.

DSC DACH came back to Vienna on 15 and 16 October 2025, under the line Applied AI and Data in Industry. The venue was a hotel function room: banquet chairs in rows, one projection screen, a black sponsor wall by the doors. Tarry Singh chairs the DACH edition of the Data Science Conference, and DKAI Lab spent both days in the building.

Registration ran from two cloth-covered tables by the entrance. Badges were laid out in grids, each printed with a name and the same Applied AI and Data in Industry line. Red DSC lanyards sat coiled at the end of the table, next to two laptops and a printed delegate list. Along the corridor, AMBER had brought a GPU rack, lit it blue and parked it under a banner offering full-stack AI infrastructure.

The programme stayed close to practice. One session put a table of pre-defined LLM scorers on the screen and went through what each one evaluates and whether it needs ground truth: relevance to query, safety, retrieval groundedness, retrieval relevance. Another worked through AI in medical imaging, from radiomics and deep learning to standardisation across centres, and closed on the speaker's own formulation, Responsible AI = Reliable Medicine.

The sponsor wall carried Snowflake, AMBER, VIS, Comtrade System Integration, APODDO, SPG Specif Group and top ideas. It did the other job such walls do. Between sessions small groups lined up in front of it, five and six at a time, badges still on.
